| The Secret Society of Sorority Satanists Evil Wayne: Serials |
IntroductionThis serial was written from March 19, 19871 to March 16, 1990. Right out of high school my friend Bill had joined the Army. In the days before eMail, I used to write letters as a hobby. I would spend a great deal of time on a single letter, which usually didn't contain any actual useful information in the end. But it was chock full of drawings, ridiculous claims and other stuff I would find laying about. If I can be a bit generous, it was an art form. At the time, I had collected a slew of novelty postcards and started writing him about the exploits we were having while he was away. Over the course of 3 years I wrote 100 postcards. On each an episode. Which required me to keep photocopies of the text each time I sent one so I could have some idea of what I had already written. This turned out to be fortunate, because years later a psycho girlfriend of his stole all the originals basically making them lost forever. But at least I had the photocopies. I've only changed a very few minor points, hopefully to clarify events and correct some misspellings and other grammar issues. I've added some footnotes to further explain some elements, but on the whole, this is the text from the postcards as they originally appeared. Although it clearly lacks the tactile and visceral feel of holding a postcard with the ink writing that can convey a further sense of emotion than the words alone. Up front, I'll add that I was 18 when I started writing this. It was written to a friend and I never expect it to mean all that much (which begs the question of why I bother putting it online?). My point is that this isn't exactly a polished novel with in-depth character development, tight plot twists and a denouement that will have you talking about it for weeks. In fact, it's so far from that it's down right criminal (seriously, there are elements I'm pretty sure I lifted from two James Bond films: The Spy Who Love Me and Moonraker). So you should probably shouldn't go any further at this point. In fact, you should probably leave this site altogether and never come back. For you regulars (all 2 of you) this will probably permanently drive you away. So if you looking for a quick exit, here's a link to get you out of here: Homestar Runner
1. Actually, this is the postmark date on first postcard. It's probably safe to say I actually wrote it before this date. I didn't take to dating the cards until about half way through the series, but it's not inconceivable that I may have actually written the whole series in exactly three years. |
