New Material

Whew! It's been forever and a day, but I with the return of the Halloween season and the announcment of this years game, I feel the need to update this site with some new material.

First, the characters are online. This contains the text that was mailed to the players before the game to give them enough background to know who they were.

The Secret Motives were given to the players when they triggered a key event, such as witnessing an event or gaining insight to going-ons. These were secret and the players were instructed to keep it to themselves. Often these contained conflicting goals to the party at large.

I've also added Sullivan's post-game story, The Pocketwatch. I should point out that he gave this to me in early Novemeber and promptly forgot all about it.

And, speaking of material falling into a black hole, I've finally added the write up as it is. Big thanks to Dave Eaton for keeping track of events and writing them down. In fact, Dave went that extra anal step that we all appreciate around here and created a spreadsheet that breaks down the turns into events and sanity hits so you can get some idea of what a BW:666 game entails.

Enjoy and sorry about the wait!

Working

I'm still working on stuff... More to come here, I promise.

Welcome!

Brikington Manor. After the unnatural occurrences of October 23rd 1926, the name itself is enough to induce chills in even the most steadfast citizen of Arkham Mass. On that night 6 guests from the region were invited by Harrison L'Godt to his large Victorian manor for a social gathering.

What ensued was a Brikwars game the likes of which has never been seen before.

A Plethora of Terrifying Images

We've added several photo galleries to the sidebar. These link to various Brickshelf folders that contain photos from the game itself. If you have images not linked, email one of us and we'll get right on it.

A write up is forthcoming, but we want to make it just right. Cross every I, dot every T (we're evil like that).

Not to mention that writing in blood takes time - and lots of "donars".

Excerpt: Arkham Gazette, 25 October 1926

Arkham - This town experienced a rash of unusual reports over the weekend. Animal disturbances, employee absenteeism, and wild claims of supernatural events all kept the authorities busy through all hours of Saturday night.

"Some sort of natural disturbance must have happened in one of the outlying fields or forests," explained one local farmer. "Both of my hounds were howling all night long, and I could hear the same thing taking place at my neighbor's house a half mile down the road. They were smelling something unusual, I reckon."

Several local businesses have apparently closed temporarily in response to the unresetful weekend. Tennesson's General Store, located on Main Street, has not opened its door since Saturday, and Mrs. Rose Platery has not received any of her regular students for their weekly piano lessons. A similar rumor of an employees unexpectedly becoming reclusive and not showing up to work has even been heard from this very office of the Arkham Gazette, though further details were not available at the time of printing.

The local constabulary confirms that several other reports were made to the chief of police late Saturday and early Sunday morning, mostly from the Northeastern outskirts of town. A reliable source wouldn't reveal the nature of the complaints, but tells us that the police spent much of Sunday investigating some of the outrageous claims without result.

One of Arkham's wealthy businessmen, Harrison L'Godt, lives in the general area from which most of the disturbances were heard. When asked by our reporter what he saw and heard that night, he explained that as far as he could tell there was nothing out of the ordinary. "In fact," he went on, "the evening was so uneventful that my dinner guests all retired early, after which I promptly went to bed."

Opening Film Added

The opening video has been added to the site. This is another RealPlayer video, and it's at a much lower quality than the one the players watched. However, this one does fix one players name and removes a sound effect that was in the original by mistake. The music's volume is also raised a bit. It does not fix any of the imagery (we're saving that for the Special Edition ... you think I'm kidding?)

More to Come...

Excerpted from the Boston Herald, Oct. 18 1926:

Mystics Welcome Cosmic Alignment

Boston - Astrology and amateur astronomy buffs alike are raving about the current state of the heavens, though for vastly different reasons. The astronomers are thrilled at the rare confluence of events taking place in the empty depths of space far above the Earth. Several meteors, each with independent cycles, are traversing the Boston skyline this month, their tails weaving an intricate pattern across the tapestry of the night sky. This, in addition to the periodic alignment of four of the solar systems planets, is making for a spectacular nighttime show, says Harvard Professor Arthur Pendicott.

His enthusiasm, and that of his colleagues, is dwarfed only by that of the local mystic community's. "The timing of these events is extremely significant," says one self-proclaimed practitioner of sky-divining. "The arrival of the meteors, which have a tremendous spiritual impact, in conjunction with the focusing effect of the four planets is in and of itself a foreboding combination. And if you consider on top of that the season - why, right now the fabric between the living and the dead would already be strained, but this just compounds the situation ... "

Recent weeks have been punctuated by reports of normally reclusive peoples congregating in certain rural areas of Northern New England. During one such recent event, we spoke with a participant. She asked not to be named, but told us that we were witnessing a gathering of the faithful as they flocked to a resurgent Ley Line. "Ley Lines are bands of energy that crisscross the Earth's surface, and which are essential to the practice of magic and spell weaving," she explained. "The events taking place in the skies are amplifying even the smallest, most dormant ley lines, recombining their energy to their highest level in nearly twenty years."

"Don't be surprised if you hear tales of strange happenings and unusual occurences, stories bound up in the impossible and the use of arcane power. If ever such things beyond the ken of modern man are going to happen, these next few weeks will be the time."

Harrison and Meredith: A Love Story

You can now download the PDF of Harrison and Meredith. It is a short text composite of the lives of the L'Gots, how they met and fell in love and what befell them.

The story also adds much background material for the game itself and astute players may find evidence in the text of things to come.

Or maybe not...

The Outsider

"...it is UBERCREEPY."

Or so Sully would have you believe. Is it? I have no idea, I haven't had a chance to listen to it yet, but it's posted to the site and now you can judge for yourself.

Download it while you can.

F(r)iendly Get-Together in 8 Days

Final preparations for the party are proceeding at a furious pace - the event promises to be a most sophisticated, genteel, and relaxing evening for friends, family, and business associates alike.

Or not.

Conceptual Brikwars Consultant Mick Royhook recently wrote in with some ideas and suggestions, and the following foreboding warning:

"Corpses, demons, tentacles, getting your arm broken, etc. are not legal" [1]

Clearly, this bodes well for any players who may have reservations about associating with Harrison L'Godt, given his eccentric reputation. It should be reassuring to know that any instances of corpses, demons, tentacles, etc would be illegal, and therefore subject to criminal prosecution ...

... assuming you can register your complaint the next morning.
