iPod Woes

My freaking iPod is being problematic lately. iTunes will no longer synch it, which means I can't put any new music on it that way. It also has a nasty tendency to crash and take my whole system with it. I haven't tried restoring it to the factory default yet. Which might be the only thing that gets it going again. But I have a lot of music on there that I don't feel like having to re-rip. I mean, a real lot. About 15 gigs worth that I no longer keep on my PC, that's the point, right?

I think I've found a way to get some of the music directly off the iPod, but even that caused the iPod to crash a couple of time (thankfully not crashing my PC... yet). If I can get the basic stuff I listen to off, I'll be happy. I'll be happier if restoring it works. I really don't want a new iPod. Mine is a third-gen and it has this nifty cord extention for the earbuds with pause/play, skip/back and volume buttons, which I wicked dig. Plus, I'm setup at work with it plugged in a stand so it's always charged. I'd rather not have to give it all up.

That wonderful cord.

Testing

Blogger.com upgraded some of it's software and I haven't been able to post without going through the website. But they finally ported over my blog and, in theory, I should be able to post this.

Our Con Prep I

It's so no me to begin prep for anything before the last minute. Although, I"m quite sure I should have started this a month ago, so not all hope is lost of losing my reigning Procrastination Crown. We're running a few BrikWar games at a local con out in Amherst at the beginning of next month. To that end, I'm rehashing the Tox Uthat game from the Portsmouth Game Day back in 2004.

I've managed to get some others to help out, but I still wound up with 6 modules to build, including the double-sized cargo bay. At this point, it breaks down like this:

The Derelict Modular Layout I.

I ain't getting nuthin' done today, I know that. But if I can churn out two more before this weekend, I'll be sitting pretty. Of course, this doesn't even begin to take into account the paperwork that I need to flesh out. A BrikWar primer, Trooper stats and special rules for the games all in a nifty handout. If I'm lucky that is.

And I think we all know how that's been working out for me lately.

Serial Friday: Myra 1.8

This episode is a little on the short side. Probably more under the heading of Less Filling verses Taste's Great.

Jeesh, does anyone actually get that reference?

Happy Birthday Fatboy!

Continuing our environmentally friendly series of recycled images, we offer Fatboy the same treatment as Kate. Recycled Electronic Cake (REC).

Happy Birthday! Welcome to the last year of being 20-whatever. Technically, this is your 30th year on Earth.

Depressing, I know.

Welcome to the end of the first two decades of your life.

Atikay

Atikay shows her fascination with windshield wipers.

It's like she's been released because the lock-down ward ran out of beds.

Oh The Pain

I've been having some issues with the woodstove lately. Actually, it's mostly keeping a fire going because A) I've run out of firestarters and B) I can't seem to collect enough kindling to save my life. Not that I haven't tried, but a lot of it is damp from all the freaking rain.

It takes me about 2 hours to get a fire going steady and that's a lot of babysitting. A lot of jumping around, kneeling and whatnot. So one my merry jaunts up and down my kneecap connected with the leading edge of the bricks.

Mother of God, I thought I broke something. The pain was so bloody excruciating, I just sort lie there, writhing. TheBoy was the only one in the house and he was really concerned about why his father is suddenly having some kind of seizure on the floor.

It took a good while for me to have any sense that I was not, in fact, going to have to make a hospital trip and possibly end up with some nifty cane or horrific cast.

Serial Friday: Myra 1.7

Okay, it's a tad late in the day and the graphic is totally lame, but here's the next chapter of Myra. Hopefully, I can get this baby back on track.

Happy Birthday Atikay!

In an effort to be conservative, I'm rehashing the cake from year's past. Think of all the electrons I'm saving.

7 Years (Which is Copper and Wool)

This seems like a good place to get back into this. Today is my 7th year anniversary at work. Like last year, this is the longest I've ever stayed at one place and as a bonus, starting a job in 2000 makes it extraordinarily easy to track the number of years you've been anywhere.

Go easy math!

I've been completely out of order for the last few weeks. A lot of it has to do with the kitchen we're having remodeled. The main thrust of the project has yet to start, but the prep work is so daunting. We order cabinets and signed a contractor about a five weeks ago. We have to removed everything we don't want thrown away before they come and rip the guts out. So we've been packing up what we can (mostly glass) and cleaning out the china cabinet.

Unfortunately, we don't know when it's supposed to happen. Could be any time now, or it could be another month. Of course, whenever it is, there will still be more to do and it will be a frantic mess.

And that's the worst part about this, not knowing when everything is going to be turned upside down. I expect it to be 2 weeks of chaos, but not knowing when it starts feels like a heavy brick hanging over our heads.
