Go Atikay
Kate graduated from the machining program she's been in for the last 8 or 9 months this morning. But not only did she just graduate, she did it at the top of her class. Plus, she got other awards for academics and spirit. On top of that, she gave the speech for her team and she was probably the most animated one up there.
Which is especially refreshing when you consider this is a publicly funded program, therefore they have six dozen people involved with it from local politicians, state politicians, community leaders and a host of other people they probably just pull in off the street under the notion of it's their tax dollars or something. And everybody speaks--at length. And, this is also the kind of event that always takes place on a nice, hot day in a non-air conditioned, public building.
But it's all about Kate, so that's not too much to have to put up with. I'm really proud of her accomplishment. It isn't easy when you consider she's been in the program full time, worked a 45 hour job and took care of 2 kids. Good God. Hell, I get flustered trying to remember to put fabric softener in with the wash.
I'm ticked that I totally forgot my camera, or I'd have pics up here.
Probably the one where she almost fell down the stairs.
