Monday, October 30, 2006 Birthday SJgames remembered and sent me an email: Happy birthday to you Happy birthday to you The Illuminati are watching Everything that you do Fnord! Now I feel all warm and fuzzy inside. posted by Evil Wayne | 1:57 PM 0 comments Wednesday, October 25, 2006 DaveE's Time-Cheese Theory I was totally going to make fun of DaveE for this, but as I started to read it, I felt it was less silly and more apt. I like it. I like it a lot: "I frequently imagine time like passing through a square block of Swiss cheese. Perhaps you could think of it as flip-book of infinitely thin slices being flipped. As you progress, you see a hole appear, get bigger, then smaller, then disappear. But the block of cheese as an entity simply exists. You may think of that hole as a temporal object that changes, and ceases to exist, but it's not so. The fact that you seem to perceive the cheese as "changing" is a trick that your mind plays on you. Even though you can only see a thin slice at any given moment, the reality is that the whole thing exists all at once. What happens at the ends of the block of cheese? Nothing. The cheese is finite. The question would sort of be like asking "what color was the cheese before the cheese started?" Well, there was no color. There was no cheese." posted by Evil Wayne | 2:43 PM 0 comments Sunday, October 22, 2006 Cheerleading (Part I) Kelly and her team had their competition yesterday. For some reason, the regional teams were competing at the ass-end of Rhode Island (sorry Al). It's hard to tell from the video, but Kelly was just about beaming through the whole thing. She's really had a lot of fun with cheerleading this year (except when she hasn't, that is). Aside from the last game today, we figured this was it for the season, but they managed to place 3rd in their division (Jr Midget Intermediate); the B-Team has never placed before. Which means they move on to the next round, also to be held at the same place at the ass-end of Rhode Island (again, sorry Al). We drove about 90 minutes got there for a 3 minute routine, and we get to do it again in two weeks. Oddly, if they manage to win that one, they’ll move onto Providence, which is only about 20 minutes from home. Oh well, Go Team! posted by Evil Wayne | 11:00 AM 2 comments Friday, October 20, 2006 Mouse in the House Either the cat brought in a dead mouse this morning, or one got in and she killed it. Either way, I had to clean up a little stiff mouse laying on the carpet by the stairs. Joy. I'd like to think that the cat brought it in, but part of me wonders how nobody would have noticed her carrying it as they opened the door. It's not unheard of for a mouse to get in, now that the weather is starting to turn cold. I just can't figure out how it would have gotten in by itself. The end result is the same, I guess. Damnit, I hate being this busy. Busy good. Insane busy, bad. We had the second Zombie game on Saturday, I hope to get something written up for that soon. Anyway, October isn't looking much better for posting than September at this rate. posted by Evil Wayne | 1:54 PM 0 comments Tuesday, October 10, 2006 Zombie Do List I've still got quite a bit to do for Saturday's !!ZombieII!! game. I did manage to stop by the Lego store on our way home from the wedding this past weekend (and I'll probably retro-post that later) and get a couple of cups of more tiles. Burlington had red and blue, which Natick did not. I'm thinking that I might need more black however. I finished off my second module, a corner, clothing store, yesterday and started in on the mall concourse. I came up with a basic, repeating design, thanks to the red. Right now the layout will be something like this: Unfortunately, it's already Tuesday and I still have to build: -The mall main entrances; -The access ways; -The zombies themselves; -A third module if I can; -Possibly part of a parking lot. And I still have to work on: -Characters; -Skills; -Motivations/Goals; -A random search chart. All of which must be done by Friday night. posted by Evil Wayne | 5:43 PM 0 comments Friday, October 06, 2006 October Swing ![]() I'm finally starting to get into the season. We got the Halloween stuff down yesterday and decorated the house. And I've also been listening to some of the seaonsal music and at least one run through of War of Worlds (the Orson Wells broadcast). Yesterday --and today actually-- have been classic fall days. Warm in the sun, but with a chilly breezy. The sky full of puffy clouds and the trees all turning colors. Awesome. I'm really starting to dig it, baby. Fatboy gets married tomorrow, so I'm bound to have some photos from that. posted by Evil Wayne | 2:39 PM 1 comments Monday, October 02, 2006 69 Miles The light pops back on somewhere around 69 miles (at least that's when I suddenly noticed it). Booo... I spend the weekend fretting about the freaking car and, instead of making myself calm on Saturday morning, I don't bother to bring it to get inspected. I sleep. I went this morning and, luckily for me, it's the short test (which is odd, because I thought for sure it was the short test last year) so no emissions test this year and, apparently, no problem with the sticker. Unfortunately, I still have the engine light problem. So I'll be flushing some more money in a very short while. I love doing that... posted by Evil Wayne | 5:08 PM 0 comments |
