Media Matters Comment

I stumbled across this in a string of comments after an article on the Media Matters site and had to share:

But before Bush stepped onto the carrier deck or stepped out of his ranch house, please envision the moment where he stood before a mirror, adjusting his swagger, striking a pose, trying to look as fighterpilotish or cowboyesque as he could. I assure you that there have been many such mirror moments, complete with a makeup artist and a hair stylist and a lint-picker. It's illusion and delusion.

It's a drag act, but without the humor and the tongue-in-cheek fun. And it's a dangerous act, because it's conferred far more authority on Bush than is deserved. 

*The last sentence is one of the truest things I've ever written.
