Wednesday, June 28, 2006 Score One Against Fascism The Senate barely defeated that piece of right-wing, distractionary bullshit yesterday, by voting down the proposed Amendment to outlaw burning of the flag. This is the thing the Republican-led Congress wants to deal with?!? Screw health care, screw the minimum wage, but save the fucking flag from free speech? It's a god-damn symbol. For years the GOP claimed that if they had control they could make this a better nation. Well, they've had it and what have the done? Given their rich, business buddies massive tax breaks, lied to start a useless war, pillaged the treasury, circumvented the law left and right, spied on Americans, and now they want to gut the first amendment. And for what? So they can maintain control. This is nothing but a mid-term election ploy. Like that "terrorist" group they busted in Miami or the plan that was foiled about the NY subway. These things make the news because they want it to look like they're doing something. That they have been. I think they figure we're getting wise to the way that useless color-coded terror alert system was used in the last election. So if they trot out these "cells" they've managed to uncover in place of the alert system this time, so they can work it the same way. Even though these guys had no weapons and no plan, and were clearly not right in the head, the Administration is counting on the idea you'll forget that part. That you'll only remember the FBI arrested some guys and must be doing a good job keeping us safe. Jesus H. Christ, what the hell has happened to this country?
