The Rainbow and The Severed Head

There were some quick and powerful thunderstorms moving through the area yesterday afternoon. Around 5 PM, I thought I head some thunder in the distance. It went from sunny to dark and foreboding in the span of about 20 minutes. From there, the wind picked up and rain started coming down in this weird criss-cross pattern. It looked a lot like cross-hatching, except with water.

Then the thunder and lightening and heavy rain. But it didn't last long, probably on the order of about an hour at the most. After, Kelly called me up to the door because there was the awesome double-rainbow across the street. I grabbed the camera and got this shot, which I think is rather cool, because the rainbow on the left seems to delineate the dark clouds from the bright.

A double rainbow is God's way of say, I'm really, really sorry.

Here's a couple other shots, but they're pretty much the same thing.
Rainbows #1
Rainbows #2
Rainbows #3

Right before the rain started pouring down, Kelly went outside and was running around in the rain (because she's 12, that's why). When she came back, she forced me outside because I had to see something. As we came around the bushes that partially obscure the front steps, there was this head sitting there, facing the door.

The Severed Head. It's meaning clear, you either give us what we want, or we'll torture more Barbie Make-Up Dolls.

Because it was facing the opposite way, with the back of the head facing us, I had the same initial reaction as her: What the fuck is THAT?!? It was wicked creepy to see it sitting there, in the rain. I grabbed it and put it out back on the picnic table. Later we discovered it was a friend of Mike's who thought it would be funny, but I have to say, I initially took it in a very Godfather kind of way...
