Friday, July 29, 2005 Noooooooo! For the past couple of years, NELUG has been invited to the employee tent sale at Lego in Enfield, CT. It's just about the coolest sale of Lego I've ever witnessed. Not only are there tons of pallets of Lego in interconnected giant tents, but the prices are just nuts. I think last year there was stuff in excess of 75% off. I get a huge boost to my collection in one swoop. I gather that they pull out stuff from the warehouse to make space, and sometimes it's older stuff. Last year, I snagged a couple copies of the Shark Cage Cove, a set from '97. The year before I got a boxed dozen of Duplo eggs. You can see some of the pic I took last year here. I've been looking forward to this event since last year and set time aside when the announced it would actually happen a few months ago. But there was a message today that the sale might be canceled this year. Of course, it's not 100% clear and the person who could give the definitive answer is on vacation for the week, so the drama will continued. I guess what bums me the most is the fact I sort of gave up going to Brickfest this year to get more out to the tent sale. Not that I can really be mad at Lego, after all they're doing us a favor by letting us attend. But damn it, it's gonna be a long week. GAH! posted by Evil Wayne | 10:57 AM 0 comments 0 Comments: |
