Bush, The Angry Little Puppet

At least that's how he looked up there on the podium last night. Like a angry little caricature of himself; muppet like–probably with Dick Cheney's hand up his ass. That'd make me angry too, I guess.

Bush always seem to have a grimace or a puss on his face. He looked like a child who can't get what he wants, but knows to keep his mouth shut. Well, almost. There was that amusing moment when he prompted the moderator for an extra 30 seconds and he just stood there for 2 or 3 seconds without a clue.

There were a couple of times he appeared to loose track of what he was saying.

I did think Kerry missed a moment to slam the President. At the end, they were talking about North Korea and in Bush's response, he immediately started talking about Iraq. It was a giant disconnect of the subject and Tine and I looked at each other in real confusion. What the hell is he talking about? But in his rebuttal, he made the inference that Kerry would be soft, so instead of slamming him, Kerry responded to the allegation, even if he did sort of call him on the misdirect. It should have been a bigger slam.

In my eyes, it's clear that Kerry won the debate. He was more on-target for the questions, even when they drifted. I was worried going into this- The topic of Foreign policy clearly meant the War on Terror where Bush, for some unfathomable reason, leads in the polls. But it was poised to make him look better. I sat on the couch and chewed my fingernails, tapped my foot and got up a lot. Tine commented that I was as nervous as one of his staff must be. I didn't really realize I feel that invested in it, but I am. Bush needs to be ousted. Why there's no independent commission investigating this guy is beyond me.

Worst. President. Ever.

But Kerry pulled it out. Finally, someone's publicly divested Iraq from the War on Terror. Finally, he's taken the position that was way wrong to go after Iraq when we hadn't even finished with Bin Laden. It's been driving me mad that nobody seems to see it. I'm hoping that if Bush can't pull the War on Terror debate out, he won't fair much better in the next two. But they'll analyze this one to death. The next time, it won't be the same Bush up there. He'll laugh, smile and, probably speak less out of turn. The machine will really start to kick in now.

And what the hell were they writing all the time? I like to think that Kerry was making quick shorthand notes about subjects he wanted to respond too. Or a phrase to use or some other strategic marks to help him get a clear message across. Bush's got a couple of stick figures attacking a third he's written Kerry over.

This is from another message board I haunt. I thought it was pretty close to what I imagine. Credit: Dan Bukszpan.

I think it's noteworthy that on The Daily Show, which was live at 11 last night, Steward spoke with one person from each party after the event. From the Dems he had General Clark. Clark was laid back, clearly happy with Kerry's performance and joked with Steward from the get-go. From the Republicans, Rudy Giuliani. Giuliani was clearly eager to start the spin. Despite any jokes Steward made, Giuliani force his message that Bush did well, Kerry's a flip-flopper and couldn't explain anything. His mock surprise when Steward suggested that Kerry did, in fact, make sense. It boggles the mind. I mean, do these guys really believe the crap they sling? I have to think that they know Bush is a dolt and have to mindlessly stand up for the party. I mean, if not, then he's a retard too...

I'm feeling good this morning. I think Kerry did a great job, showed some real fire. There may yet be a chance to get that monkey out of office.

Well, that and I got a quickie in this morning. :D
