Nearing The End

The humidity has been way the hell up over the last couple of days. We made the unfortunate discovery that the air conditioner we owned does not fit the new windows downstairs. Actually, we made this discovery a few weeks ago when it was hot and muggy for a day or so. I scarred the window frame trying to get the unit in, because it just misses being able to fit. That day I jury-rigged it in and used towels to fill up the gaps. It worked because I had no intention of leaving the unit in the window beyond that day.

The sunroom, with it's new thru-the-wall AC, still has no furniture in it. So, we decided to further invest in Home Depot and bought a new, smaller AC for the downstairs. At least they were on sale.

This past weekend I pulled the tape off the walls in the sunroom. The red got a quick coat in places that were clearly the worst, but it wasn't like I painted the room again. Probably took me a half hour or so. Then on Saturday, I took the tape off. I will say it came off easier than any of the other rooms. There were only two places where the paint peeled up like a Christmas present. In both cases, I managed to use more paint to act as a glue to put it back down. But there were plenty of other jagged, imperfections left making it look so unprofessional.

I can't win.

We did actually purchase the furniture for the new room. On Friday we ordered the set to be delivered this coming Friday. It's a deep olive-ish green we found about a month ago. We're pretty sure it will look good against the red walls. We also found a carpet faster than we anticipated (or we would have had the furniture delivered earlier). It's white. Which could be a big mistake, but it was cheaper than most of the others and if it lasts a few years then I'm okay with that. Of course, I'm going to have to institute a series of beatings to keep the children from tromping around up there with shoes or food. I figure I shouldn't warn them, I should just jump directly to the beatings. That should have a dramatic impact on their psyche and reinforce the notion I Ain't Fucking Around.

So the furniture comes this Friday. I think I found a good set of end-tables with a coffee table. The only thing left is that damned television. Cable is coming to hook up the new room so we'll have to move the old set up there for now, but Tine was so looking forward to a huge widescreen TV. Oh, I'll complain about that soon enough.

I can't wait for this part to be done. Then it's done-done. Well, actually, I didn't get to shaving Mike's door yet. It rained me out. But that shouldn't take too long. Then it's done. Then I can start worrying about my area and busting out my Lego from it's long slumber.
