Surreal Moment of the Week

This morning when I was dropping off The Boy, the sitter had two peacocks, live peacocks, strutting about on her front lawn. I think they were females as they did not have those ornate tail feathers, but they did have a tiara-like crown on their greyish heads. They were bigger than I would have thought. Bigger than the wild turkeys I've seen around here (another surreal moment). And a bit uglier to be honest. There was something mean in their yellowsih eyes. Maybe it was me, but they seemed to be getting closer to me not out of any sense of trust, but more of a defend-the-turf-by-ripping-off-your-flesh kind of way. I couldn't stay very long, and frankly, in the end, I was happy to leave.

On an unrealted note, the coffee this morning was exactly what I imagine a warm cup of burning tire to taste like. Mmmmm...
