Short week

Just gotta get thru today tomorrow and early out on Wednesday. I'm already getting antsy about the holidays. Probably more so this time because we found out they want to start the renovations around the third week of January. Which means we have to clear out the bedrooms and sunroom so they can do the work before then. We can't bring down tons of decorations, because whatever comes down has to go right back up immediately following the freakin' holidays. So Thanksgiving kicks it off and it's only a couple of days away. We have to also squeeze in all the shopping as well as the hard-core cleaning. Oh it's going to make for a hell of season this year. >:O

I saw 28 Days Later... this weekend and I thought it was average. I say I because Tine didn't want to watch it after the part where the main character finds his parents dead from an overdose. I think it was more about the note they left than the suicide. She's not herself lately.

Anyway, I love a story set in a depopulated world (or Island Nation in this case), but it didn't really seem all that special. Especially after all the hype. I was really expecting something different. Why, exactly, don't the infected attack each other? That seemed like the best bet to have enraged infected assaulting each other. Yet, they seem to work together in some cases to try to attack the normals. Two of them run up the building after Jim and Selena when they're investigating the blinking lights. And a whole pack of them run after the car in the tunnel. That's actually the scene where I started to notice they weren't attacking each other. When the car gets away, the infected just sort of stop and stand around bewildered for a moment before the scene changes. Someone at work suggested that the disease make them into pack animals, but I don't buy it.

The part about the soldiers seemed cliché. Of course there would be a group of military men left over. Of course, they would be crazy. However, it reminded me somewhat of an older miniseries based on The Day of the Triffaids. That was British too. But there was a part where the survivors had kept the plants at bay only to be absorbed by a military contingent that was corrupt. Typical.

Overall, I liked the movie, but it was average.
